Hello!
My favorite amusment park, Knotts Berry farm, Has had their star ride, Xcelorator, Closed until further notice! How disapointing! Here is an article about it:
The Xcelerator ride at Knott’s Berry Farm has sat silent since an accident last month, and may stay shut down for several more weeks. The ride must remain closed while state inspectors examine the ride and determine what caused a cable to snap as a train started up a 200 foot-high horseshoe loop.“It’s still out of commission, and it’s liable to be out of commission for a few months or more,” said Erika Monterroza, spokeswoman for Cal-OSHA, the state agency responsible for investigating theme park accidents.Inspectors have removed portions of the ride.“They need to do failure analysis, so they have to send (those) parts out to a lab,” Monterroza said, and those tests “can take some time.”A 12-year-old boy spent a couple of nights in an area hospital after the broken cable cut his leg, and one man was treated for a complaint of back pain. Pictures of accident’s aftermath have been posted on the Web site amusementsafety.org.The ride can reopen only after the investigation is complete and state inspectors sign off on repairs done by Knott’s crews.Knott’s is in the process of getting a new cable, spokeswoman Jennifer Blazey said. The ride manufacturer’s instructions call for the cable to be changed out yearly. Before the accident, it was last replaced in December, Blazey said.State officials have said they will examine Knott’s maintenance records, but added Knott’s appeared to be up-to-date with required maintenance.“We’d like to hope it gets up sooner than later,” Blazey said. “It’s one of our most popular attractions in the park.”Source: Knott’s ride may be closed for months - Around Disney - OCRegister.com
